2012 Route 66 Road Trip - Day 14

Up and out of Groom, TX in the morning. We made another decision to stop taking the alternate Route 66 alignments altogether... and simply stick to the main, current route. We were desperately running out of time to complete the trip... :(

Just outside of Groom lies another more popular landmark on our trip... the leaning water tower.

A short time later, we passed through McLean, TX and stopped to visit a restored Phillips 66 service station.

We stopped for breakfast in Shamrock, TX, and visited the Conoco landmark on our way through town.

Shortly upon entering into Oklahoma, we stopped at an abandoned service station that was once called Kobel's Place in Foss.

Because we were starting to be in more of a hurry to cover more ground, my stops for photos became fewer and farther between.

I tried to capture this flock of storks out on Lake Overholser in Oklahoma City - bad photo quality, but they were way out there and it was pretty windy.

And we also stopped by Pop's to get a photo of the rather large pop bottle sculpture. :D

We came to rest this evening in Tulsa, OK. After more discussion, and due to the haste that we had this day, we decided to slow it down tomorrow... take our time as we normally would if we had a ton of time left... and where we ended up tomorrow evening, we would call quits early. From that point, we decided that we would just have to suck it up and take the interstate home... cutting the route short. :(
